FUNDAMENTALS of ART
Fundamentals of Art is a beginning level academic/studio course. Students will study the elements and principles of art and design as they apply them to two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art. Academic as well as hands on experience with several techniques and art media are central to this course. We will also look at the purpose of art within our global community and the significance of artistic movements that have occurred throughout history.
Approximately every two weeks for the first semester, a new topic, or enduring understanding, will be introduced and become the over-arching discussion point for that period. By it’s very recursive nature, these topics will be reintroduced during the second semester and deeper understanding and perceptions will be observed, discussed and synthesized into ongoing art making.
